MOED Employer Update

Job Fair September 22nd MOED Employment Connection Center 12-5pm 1410 Bush St

Does have employers who are hiring, but often the salaries aren’t enough for many people to consider. There are tow truck driver, forklift operators, and restaurant jobs available.

The biggest issue is getting people ready to keep the job.

There will be a job club every Wednesday from 2-4pm focusing on resumes, interviews, and applications.

There is also a challenge with folks who are placed in a job who are difficulty keeping jobs because of life barriers. There are programs in the area–Paul’s Place and Bon Secours Community Works both offer case management and wrap around services.

The Committee discussed ways to provide job retention training to community members–UMMC has a successful program that they offer to employees that they might be interested in sharing with community members–Lisa will check.
